Job Description:
Minimum Qualification:
- A bachelors degree (or higher) in Computer Science or Software Engineering
· 3 years experience administering a multi-server SQL Server environment
· 3 Years Experience in technical lead role of IT projects
· 2 Years Experience administering a multi-server Oracle environment
· 3 Years Knowledge of SSIS and DTS packages
· 3 Years Knowledge and understanding of views, triggers, stored procedures, and query optimization
· Experience in database design
· Experience in supporting multi-instance SQL Server 2000 – 2010 environments
· Knowledge and understanding of SQL execution plans
· Practical knowledge of T-SQL programming language
· Theoretical understanding of SQL Server DBMS objects and components, such as Temp DBs, System DBs, File Groups, Recovery Models and Transaction Logs
· Theoretical understanding of the SQL Memory architecture, such as Buffer Cache and Procedure Cache
· 1 Year Experience with building SQL Server maintenance plans
· 1 Year Experience in creating and scheduling Oracle or SQL Server jobs
· Experience in building and administering highly available database solutions in SQL Server using the following technologies (replication, mirroring, and clustering) using the following technologies (Real Application Clusters and Data Guard)
· Knowledge and understanding of ITIL concepts such as Service Desk, Incident Management and Change Management
· Knowledge of PLSQL programming language
· Knowledge and experience with database design methodologies such as CORBA and J2EE
· Knowledge and experience with data flow diagrams, data dictionary techniques, CASE tools, entity-relation modeling, and design techniques
· 3 Years experience and Knowledge with database normalization
· Experience implementing backup and recovery methods and data modeling techniques
· Experience analyzing and optimizing databases
· Ability to effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing
· Strong oral and written communication, customer service, and time management skills
· Ability to interact with functional users and technical staff regarding business and information technology needs (3 years)
· Ability to conceive and/or develop creative solutions and possess strong problem-solving skills
Responsibilities/ Roles:
- Define access policies and enforce database security
- Provide SQL Server and Oracle database administration in accordance with the respective original equipment manufacturers best practices
- Install and configure Oracle and SQL Server instances
- Create and maintain documentation of database systems, operational procedures, and hardware/software inventory
- Formulate and monitor policies, procedures, and standards related to database management
- Propose and implement enhancements to improve the performance and reliability of the database systems
- Maintain asset records as required by the organization's asset management process
- Participate in the organization's change management process
- Document problem resolutions into the appropriate systems
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve system and user problems
- Rapidly deploy approved fixes to database management systems in response to newly identified stability and security threats
- Develop, implement, administer, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of database
- Implement data models, database designs, data access, and table maintenance codes
- Resolve database performance and capacity issues and replication and other distributed data issues
· Demonstrate sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals
